We will describe a new notion of "coarse tangent field" associated to an arbitrary doubling subset of Hilbert space. This is a coarse, high-dimensional analog of earlier work of Alberti--Csornyei--Preiss, and is rooted in the "Analyst's Traveling Salesman" theorem of Peter Jones. Joint work with Sylvester Eriksson-Bique and Raanan Schul.
