Collaborative Professional Development (CPD) in Mathematics Education
- Interrelating Pre-Service and In-Service Teacher Education in Mathematics

This presentation will focus on the theoretical and practical details of a professional development model in mathematics education that was implemented over a three year period. It was a joint initiative between York University, Faculty of Education and the Toronto Catholic District School Board. The key points of this presentation are based on the following questions:

- What are the concerns about Ontario teacher education in elementary mathematics?
- What are some beliefs about effective teacher professional development?
- Why interrelate pre-service and in-service teacher education in mathematics?
- What is the pedagogical and logistical organization of the CPD model?
- What links were made to pre-existing professional developmental models at York University and TCDSB?
- What are the learning goals of the program?
- How did the participants benefit?
- What are the participants doing now?
