The Fields Institute and SIGMA Analysis & Management are pleased to honour Dr. John Mighton, PHD mathematician, author, playwright and this year's winner of the 2005 Siminovitch Prize in Theatre and the Governor General's drama prize. The Fields Institute's mission is to provide a supportive and stimulating environment for mathematics innovation and education and we are pleased to have played a supportive role in Dr. Mighton's work.

John Mighton is a Fellow of the Fields Institute who founded the wildly successful JUMP program (Junior Undiscovered Math Prodigies),
a community-based organization working to create a numerate society. He is the author of The Myth of Ability: Nurturing Mathematical Talent in Every Child, the acclaimed book about his work and experience with JUMP. On top of this he is a celebrated playwright known for his plays, which include Possible Worlds (also a film directed by Robert Lepage), A Short History of Night and Half Life.

Please join hosts Barbara Keyfitz (Director of the Fields Institute) and Dave Rudd (Sigma Analysis & Management) with special guests
Janice Stein (Director of the Munk Centre for International Studies), Sarah Polley (Actor/Director) and cast members of Half Life in celebrating the unique talents of John Mighton and his achievement as the recipient of the 2005 Siminovitch Prize in Theatre and the Governor General's Literary Award for drama.
