Classification of C*-dynamical systems
We shall discuss classification results for several kinds of C*-algebra dynamical systems of inductive limit type. The fixed point subalgebra will plan a prominent role, and the results may be distinguished by the hypotheses we put on them: commutative, AF, AI with hypotheses on the ideals, or AT with real rank zero.

C*-algebras of Lie groups, K-theory and Mackey correspondence
George Mackey suggested that there ought to be a close correspondence between the irreducible representations of a connected Lie group G and the irreducible representations of a related but usually more elementary group. I shall try to explain Mackey's idea and then explain how the perspective of C*-algebras and K-theory leads to a precise formulation of Mackey correspondence.

A completely bounded projection from the reduced C*-algebra of the free group onto a subspace
Abstract: We briefly sketch Haagerup and Pisier's proof of a completely isomorphism between a Hilbertian operator space and a completely complemented subspace of the reduced C*-algebra of the free group.October 26, 2006

A non-commutative (or quantized) notion of compactness via tensor product (cont'd)
Operator space theory is a recent development new research area in modern analysis which also goes by the names : non-commutative (or quantized) functional analysis or non-commutative Banach spaces. This talk seeks to justify these alternative labels by illustrating an approach to a more general, but natural, concept of the classical compact linear transformations. We were inspired by a result in Grothendieck's 1956 Resume where he classified fourteen "natural tensor norms". The talk will be self contained.August 24, 2006
