Each plenary speaker will give 1 talk each of 50-60 minutes.
Confirmed Invited speakers
- Moon Duchin (UMichigan),
- Benjamin Schmidt (Michigan State University)
- Tom Fiore (UMichigan, Dearborn).
The invited speakers will NOT be giving "conventional"
talks, but rather will be hosting parallel "problem sessions"
in their respective areas of expertise, namely:
- geometric group theory
- differential geometry, and
- homotopy theory.
Graduate Student Talks
There will also be a large number of graduate student talks, i.e.
- 24 _graduate student_ talks (30 mins each), which are run in
- 3 parallel sessions (so a total of 8 times slots).
NOTE: the conference explicitly welcomes and actively solicits
from all graduate students
- expository talks on a particular topic,
- introductory overview talks covering a broad area of study,
in addition to
- more 'standard' research-style talks.
We welcome all graduate students working in all fields of geometry-topology
to submit applications/proposals for these talks, in order to give
participants a broad taste of many areas of geometry-topology. In
particular, beginning graduate students who do not yet have PhD
supervisors or even advanced undergraduates would be considered
for giving expository talks, if they submit a good proposal for
such a talk.
Funding for student participants
We have funding available for a small number of Canadian students
to participate in the conference. Some preference will be given
to students proposing to give a talk. Please use the `Travel funding
application for Canadian students' above (open shortly). The deadline
for application is February 14, 2010.
