Overview
The Theory Canada conference provides a venue for the Canadian
theoretical physics community to meet, interact, and share new research
results with colleagues from across the country. The Theory Canada
8 conference in 2013 will focus on the following areas of advanced
fundamental research: mathematical physics, string theory and quantum
gravity, particle physics, gravitation and cosmology, quantum information,
and condensed matter theory. The conference will provide an opportunity
for theoretical physicists from across Canada to benefit from close
interaction at the Theory Canada meeting.
The overarching theme for the Theory Canada 8 Conference is to
provide an opportunity for researchers from all over Canada to advance
their research by meeting and interacting at a conference right
before the Canadian Association of Physicists annual congress. This
involves both exchange of new results and ideas with colleagues
working in the same subfield, and also cross-fertilization between
different subfields of advanced theoretical physics. To achieve
this goal, there will be five plenary sessions on contemporary areas
of fundamental theory: String Theory, Quantum Gravity, and Subatomic
Physics; Mathematical Physics; Gravitation and Cosmology; Quantum
Information; Condensed Matter Theory (plus a poster session).
