Overview

The 10th annual Guelph Biomathematics and Biostatistics Symposium will be held during May 2015 at the University of Guelph (Pathobiology Building, Room PAHL 1800).

The principal objective of the symposium series is to provide a forum for collaborations between mathematicians, statisticians and bioscience researchers, typically focusing on one application area where mathematical and statistical techniques play a significant role. This year, the focus will be on communicable and other infectious diseases. The symposium will consist of invited research talks and a poster session for graduate and undergraduate students, with a prize awarded for the best poster.

Infectious Disease modeling is a highly active area in Canada, and in particular in Southern Ontario, with several HQP-training active faculty members working at many institutions within driving distance to Guelph. The BIOMS Symposium will provide an informal platform for graduate students working in this area to present their work and to exchange ideas with students and faculty from neighboring institutions.

Location

The symposium is to be held at the University of Guelph in the Pathobiology Building, Room PAHL 1800, on May 5 2015.
