The Advancement of Research on Teaching Mathematics
This presentation is focused on an overview of recent research on mathematics teaching, which is a constantly evolving field for scholars around the globe. In the past thirty years, researchers have used a wide range of conceptual and theoretical frameworks to advance knowledge in research on teaching mathematics. Although this field of research has advanced considerably, we find that the central units of analysis in the current research studies have remained the same. Moreover, the abiding challenges associated with conceptualization, instrumentation, operationalization, and research design are still complex despite recent advances in technology and research methodology in the digital era. In this presentation, we also explore the likely direction of future research development.
