Dynamics of the Teichmueller flow on the odd component of H(2,...,2)

Abstract:
We show that for the odd component of the stratum H(2,..,2), the dynamics of the Teichmueller flow near the cusp of the stratum can be studied using an extension to a specific compactification. We use this to give a reinterpretation of some work of Avila and his coauthors in this case and discuss some open conjectures.
