Abstract:
Following Ramanujan's ground-breaking investigation into the properties of the Fourier coefficients of the discriminant function, we know that these numbers hold the key to a treasure house of arithmetic. After reviewing modular forms and properties of their Fourier coefficients, we discuss the relationship between the computation of these coefficients and the problem of factoring integers.
