Improving Student Engagement and Performance
In order for students to succeed, they need to be engaged in the material. Studies have shown that brain activity sitting in class listening to a lecture is comparable to watching TV. To improve learning, engagement and retention, students need to be actively involved with the material. That involvement may be using an interactive learning object to visualize a concept or answer a question, or it may be doing homework problems. The key is in the doing. This session will discuss different techniques to improve student engagement, specifically in STEM subjects.
