Mindless Math and Robotics
The study of Human Robot Interaction (HRI), most especially with humanoid robots, provides a unique opportunity to identify key elements of human thought and behavior. This brief talk explores the basic fundamentals of robotic functioning and its appeal to deliver felt or realized behavior thanks to an expansive coding sequence. However, the robotic mind does not interpret signs nor does it mediate them. For that matter, it is mindless. Causal at best, the facsimile of “interpretation” and “understanding” is performed through a numbered dance, pre-recorded and formatted algorithmically. Moreover, many have chalked up the programming of robots to “mathematics”. Is it though? We will discuss how robotics, most especially in humanoid form, is false mathematics; it is, for that matter, anti-anthropomathematical.
