I will explain how a generalized complex structure may be understood as a Poisson structure with a complex structure on the associated stack (joint work with Marco Gualtieri). I will connect this to early work in progress on complex structures on general stacks, and speculate about a Newlander-Nirenberg type theorem in this context (joint work with Brent Pym).
