chatOAME What’s been learned from 6 months of AI conversations with Mathematics teachers
Cal brings a wealth of experience in math education, offering a unique perspective on how artificial intelligence is reshaping classroom practices. Through his work with chatOAME, he has been engaging with educators across Ontario, exploring the transformative potential of AI tools in supporting curriculum goals, enhancing inclusivity, and addressing diverse teaching needs. In this session, Cal will weave together insights from 50 years of OAME’s flagship publications—the Abacus and the Gazette—with emerging trends in math education, including the integration of Indigenous perspectives, Universal Design for Learning, and high-impact instructional strategies. He will also reflect on how AI can empower educators to navigate the complexities of modern teaching while upholding ethical standards and privacy.
